Isometric Tile Art
Experiments with using Blender to create pixel art.
Through careful positioning of an orthographic camera, making sure model geometry complexity doesn’t exceed the limitations of the low render resolution, and sticking to a limited color palette i managed to create some fairly nice looking pixel art style terrain tiles. Each terrain tile is rendered out separately in blender, and after putting all of the tiles together in a spritesheet the Tiled editor was used to put the actual levels together.
I envisioned some kind of XCOM-esque game while putting these levels together, as i’m a big fan of that type of turn based strategy. I really like the look i achieved here, and it’s quite likely i’ll use it for some project down the line.
